Volunteering Experience part 5 – Ana Vidic

2 February 2025

Going somewhere new and unfamiliar, attending a big FS event for the first time and working with people you never met before can be challenging. But being surrounded by super friendly, charismatic and always ready-to-help people makes those problems disappear in the blink of an eye. In 2024 we had volunteers coming from all over the world, the US, Columbia, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, North Macedonia – you name it! And one of the volunteers was a girl who just experienced her first FS event and whose story you’ll be reading for the next few minutes. We’re always excited to have such great people on our team!

“My name is Ana Vidic, and I live in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. I’m a huge Formula 1 fan, and I have always been curious about how motorsport works behind the scenes. This inspired me to search for volunteering opportunities in the field.

Living in Sarajevo, where everyone seems to know everyone, I found out that someone had volunteered at Formula Student Alpe Adria. After doing some research, I decided to apply, and it was probably one of the best decisions I made – it made my summer unforgettable.

During my volunteering experience, I had the chance to take on various tasks and I was eager to help wherever needed. I mostly worked as a track marshal, staying near the track during brake tests, the skidpad, and the endurance race. Watching the car built by the teams rushing past was very exciting and seeing their accomplishments during the competition was both inspiring and motivating.

The atmosphere at the event was fantastic and there was always something new to see or do. Despite the high temperatures, early mornings and hard work, I truly enjoyed every moment. The amazing people I met there made every sacrifice insignificant. Even though I was new and asked many questions, everyone made me feel welcomed and helped me learn.

If you ever get the chance to participate at this event, don’t miss it — it will be an experience you’ll never forget. You will create memories you’ll cherish and remember for years. I can’t wait for the next competition, to meet with everyone and enjoy an amazing time once again.”
