Volunteering Experience part 4 – Matija Mirković

29 January 2025

In 2024 we had many amazing volunteers who helped us pull off the best event yet, and since FSAA 2025 is approaching fast, some of them decided to share their experience from last year with the rest of the world. The first guy whose experience you’ll get to read about is one very positive, friendly, hard-working, and ready-to-learn individual who we are thrilled to welcome back in 2025. So, let’s see what he’s got to say 🙂

“My name is Matija Mirković. I’m currently in my final year of high school, and I come from Belgrade, Serbia. I met FS Road Arrow team leader Boško Bajić by pure chance at an event in Belgrade, and when he told me about FS Alpe Adria, I immediately knew I had to be a part of it.

The experience was absolutely astonishing. I took on various tasks, from setting up the guest area to participating in the tilt test and even working as a track marshal. Challenges like high temperatures, sunburns, exhaustion, and sleep deprivation all seemed to fade away the moment I stepped onto the track grounds. Yes, it was hard, but being surrounded by such dedicated people, whether they be folks from the organization or the participating teams, motivated me to work harder. Happiness, anticipation, tension, joy, playfulness, and excitement are just a glimpse of the emotions I experienced. My summer break couldn’t have ended on a better note. I had an absolute blast!

I also met a lot of wonderful people. Everyone was open to talking with me, no matter what I wanted to ask. Participants shared insights about their universities, and judges talked about their professions and student days. These conversations truly helped me decide how and where I want to continue my education. It’s hard to remain indifferent after such an inspiring event. I highly recommend volunteering to anyone even remotely interested in this field. I’m already looking forward to seeing everyone again, along with meeting some new faces.

I can’t wait for FSAA 2025. Let’s make it even more breathtaking!”
